Problems with Poor Construction

Did anybody see that article in the recent New York Magazine (NYMag.com) about the spate of construction problems which some unfortunate buyers have encountered? There are very few inspectors for the city so the builders are expected to oversee themselves ( ! ! ! ) & with the recent downturn in the real estate market many builders are cheaping out. The article recommends that a buyer get the unit inspected when buying. CAVEAT EMPTOR ! * sorry, I don't know how to do links *

recent downturn? My impression is that new construction is selling very well all around the city.
