Discussion about
Went into this building and it seems like a great value. full floor apartments, top of the line everything, under $1000/sq. foot. www.110e97.com. The neighborhood seems fine up to 97th Street, though at 98th Street and above it still seems on the come. I'm looking this as a home to start a family, but don't want to make a bad investment decision or move to an area where security is compromised. Anybody have any thoughts?

You're looking in Spanish Harlem..but if you feel safe than go for it.

Well they argue it's Carnegie Hill/UES, and I don't see a huge difference between 96th and 97th. Don't know how it should be priced though.

I live on 96th & Park, and that block is perfectly safe, if a bit on the scrappy side. My wife and I went to an open house there recently out of curiosity, and didn't think this building was worth the money they were asking. I'm sure others will feel differently. The finishes inside were nice though, for whatever that's worth. The bathrooms were particularly well-done.

Above 96th park avenue goes from fabulous to ghetto fabulous. It has to do with the train going aboveground there and its really not very desirable.

I think the problem with this area is that you can only travel to and from one direction - South. Everything to the North is not recommended.

it's overpriced, awful. maybe if it was 700K per floor something else. I live at 97th and Madison and some nights its hard to walk out past your door...past 10 pm that is. There's this fish restuarant on the corner of 97th and madison with high crime and I've had numerous friends who've had there cars jacked into. be careful.
