When you buy - more often than not the buyer is just renting the place from the bank, the government and the insurance companies. Put me in the camp of people who think owning is overrated. It's better than renting on many levels - but it's not the financial boon that it's claimed to be. The financial benefits of owning are still overstated by so many despite what's happened the last 3 years - it's pretty amazing.
