Discussion about
anyone heard about he battle in the lower Manhattan school rezoning and how the developer of 101 warren is getting involved ? It seems that the rich and mighty of 101 warren want to change the face of lower Manhattan's school zone. An on going battle has been brewing between the residence of BPC, Fidi and some tribeca residence, over the zoning of lower Manhattan schools.. the residence of 101 warren, 89 Murray and 50 Murray under the heavily favored proposal 3 with lower Manhattan residence would have to go to P.S 89 and not P.S 234. In proposal 2 the FiDi will be split into two, where half would go into the new spruce street and the other half would go to battery park. Of course it doesn't make sense but the Goliath voices of Tribeca are being heard.
he developer of 101 warren is not getting involved. I don't know where you're getting this information. The residents of the building are fighting a proposal which will send their children across the 8 lane west side highway during rush hours. this proposal assumes that the pedestrian bridge will be the means to cross, but strollers cannot go up the stairs, and the elevator is broken 95% of the time. If it does work, if only has room for 2 strollers at the most, creating an impossible gridlock for parents trying to get their children to school on time. This is a safety issue, not a powers-that-be, rich vs poor issue.
