Discussion about
Does anyone know what the latest information is on the 2nd avenue subway? What progress if any has be done? Are they actually moving forward with this or this all smoke and mirrors?

they've actually started construction and it's still in progress, as far as I know. For more info check out the MTA's web site.

Also, unlike the previous 3 times the project started, this time there's plenty of $$ and federal backing. The other times the project was stalled due to lack of funding.

There seems to be a lot of gating off on second avenue between 96 street into the 80's is this because of the subway construction.

I have no idea if this is connected, but I noticed coming out of the Midtown Tunnel on 2nd Avenue, the sign on the equipment said "Tunnel Union". I was thinking subway, but I didn't think anything was happening that far down...but...I have noticed property along 2nd Avenue (on corners) sitting idle for quite awhile... But I'm always saying when the topic comes up...."It's not going to happen in my lifetime"....I live on 2nd and relish the idea and loathe it at the same time.
