Discussion about
We live in a walk up on the UES. Our place faces the inside of an idealist green environment. Visitors to our place are always amazed by the green beauty and the quiet splendor. I have lived here for 17 years. 17 glorious QUIET years. Now a dog has come to our quiet court. A loud obsessively barking German Shepard/Doberman mix (all hours of the day and night). It's not our building but, the back of the building on the next street. I know it bothers lots of folks because we have heard the frequent shrieks of neighbors for the dog to shut up. We have heard neighbors screaming at the dog's owner who responds with the ever handy F-U. OK team...any ideas?

There are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

Put a note in the lobby of your building that requests all residents who are bothered by the noise to call the 311 helpline on a specific day during a specific time. So write "is that dog driving you nuts? please call 311 next saturday between 1pm and 3pm and register a complaint" strength in numbers

You wont be able to do anything unless you know the address and apartment number where the dog lives.

You can find a dog trainer (at a reasonable rate) to train the dog not to bark, Wet Nose Guide (www.wetnoseguide.com)

Fill raw hamburger patties with ex-lax, feed to dog, and hope he shits all over owners rugs.

thanx,
no eating the dog or drugging the dog. w67, don't get me calling the PC police on you.
No canine bulgugi, I don't care how good it tastes. I going with the 'call 311 at a specific time posters' and see how that works.

Funny this issue should come up today...My neighbors are sueing another neighbor because of a noise complaint...For the record these opera singers drive me BONKERS!! They usually don't actually sing anything, they just practice scales...drives me freaking nuts....

I love how they say that they only practice at certain times of the day and only for 75 minutes at a time. I wonder how they would like it if I played Jay-Z at the maximum volume my stereo would allow but only for 75 minutes at a time! I don't care if they are world class singers - if I want to listen to opera, I will go to the Met or put it on my IPod, but not so loud so that my neighbors have to listen to it. Amazing to me how rude people can be.

Cpalms, hilarious. I used to have a neighbor who would practice scales endlessly. Didn't bother me so much since I was generally at work during the day, but my freelancing neighbors just plain hated it.
