Noise around the Centria

The only thing that gave me pause was that what I thought was a wet bar ended up being a pullman kitchen! Who designs these layouts? The rest of the spaces seem great and those windows and views are wonderful. Sound check from the Today show, well that sounds annoying, but it's called living in midtown.

Good pickup Bill! So let me get this straight, they want a million dollars for a small 1 bedroom with no kitchen?

I work in the neighborhood and yes, the Today Show can be very very loud and the area can get very crowded with tourists/ concert goers (there are early am concerts on Fridays).

The Centria has always intrigued me-- 48th Street is the garbage alley of Rock Center, imo. Seems like a lot of spend for the address, but it is convenient to a lot of things.

harlembuyer, can you imagine? I guess the designer figured the affluent part-timers would only make coffee in the morning and dine out constantly. I studied the photo and thought, remove those matching folding doors and use them to have someone build an eight foot long bar with barstools. With window and views, that would be the ultimate entertainment area.

jas, It intrigues me too. I love the floor to ceiling window buildings, but they tend to be far away (west)from where I want to be. This location is superb. The views are amazing. If you're an early riser, who cares about the Today Show. The weekend mornings would be a bit more somber in that area.

Reality Check: It's MIDTOWN MANHATTAN ... the largest commercial zone in the United States.

If you want QUIET, move to a residential area like the UWS or UES. Or New Jersey.

So, I got kind of excited about this place. I started reading the descriptions of all that was for sale until I got to one that tells the prospective buyer that the management can rent out your unit long term or short term. Short term? Quasi hotel. I get it. That killed it for me and now I wonder, how many other condos do this? I know 1600 Broadway does, but that's the least of their trouble at this point. So if you live in a place that does short term does that mean you come home and fall over someone's luggage in the lobby?

The minimum lease period that is allowed in the building is 6 months, which is strictly enforced by the Managing Agent for the building. Any shorter term use is not allowed, unless as a subtenant.

With a 6 month minimum, that's fine and works out for the NBC crowd if they need to be close by. Also, I see that the "C" line does have a galley kitchen with window. This could work out for people woking at 30 Rock that need a place close by, pied a terre?
