Discussion about
Hilarious. The last time I ever saw anyone using hand notes was in high school since that was a major method of cheatng. If Palin ever became president, would she write down the launch codes on her hand? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stefan-sirucek/did-palin-use-crib-notes_b_452458.html

and here is Palin's teleprompter from the 2008 RNC Convention. Since she has no clue how to pronounce "Nuclear" like Bush, it says "new-clear"

even more embarassing was one of the notes written on her hand was "tax cut." You mean she can't remember something as simple as "tax cut." It's not like were expecting her to remember the name of the president of Brazil or Paraguay.

she's a good speaker, more entertaining than "look, the fact of the matter is...". her line "how is all that change working out for you" make me lmao.

politicians are self-serving professional liars. as such, i demand they entertain me at hte very least. palin and bush: entertaining. obama: boring as hell, doesn't listen to voters, thinks he is above most but is not smart enough to hide it. he delivers to wall street in a heartbeat and doesn't hide it. a puppet of the big lobbies like everybody else in his position.

bottom line, we would be exactly the same if instead of obama the republicans would have won imho. get over the republican/democrat circus guys!

"It is incredibly embarassing that a lot of the country thinks she has what it takes to do the job."

what job is that exactly? to fake they represent the people while delivering mostly to lobbies?

if that's the job, then obama is doing it better than palin. she could stick it up to the lobbies a little bit more than obama imho. palin might believe that humans used to have little dinosaurs as pets back in the day... but hey, so do many other americans. that's where the embarrassment should be directed towards, not palin.

So, the Democrats are so up sh*t creek, the only response they have now is to go after the candidates who LOST.

Hey, seriously, maybe you should focus on the jobs that YOU were elected to do.

What's wrong with going after Palin? She's obviously trying to set herself up for a position of greater power. We should be focusing on how awful she is. She is quickly blurring the line between mindless reality tv star and (potential) member of the executive branch - that should frighten the pants off you just as much (if not more) than what current politicians are up to.

I think she is deranged, really. Why? Because she is so obviously unqualified to be President, but doeesn't seem to realize that. It is spooky and kooky.

The fact that she is popular with many people, and such a good speaker (for those that buy this product), is frightening, really. She's a true demagogue who simply doesn't even care what is true and what is a lie, the latest absurd example being trying to argue that Rush Limbaugh wasn't using "retard" in a derogatory way but was just lampooning the Dems.

I've had a change of heart. She deserves to be in the news. The Tea Party movement is a huge story and she accepted an invitation to be it's keynote speaker. Makes her fair game.

The fact that Democrats are afraid of her speaks volumes. No half way intelligent person believes she'll be a nominee in 2012.

did someone say "retard"?...oh my....should I report abuse...or call sarah..

W was pitifully inarticulate, but he didn't really give the impression that his underlying thoughts were jumbled (although they were stubborn and simplistic and shallow, etc.).

She is inarticulate in a different, wacky way that makes me think she is just plain barking mad, with an apparent inability to connect thoughts in a logical coherent way, exacerbated by an odd a-grammatical speaking style that suggests she can't even say "I went to the store to buy milk", in that order unless it is on a script (it would come out,"the store..we I..buy...went to..for some milk".

the Democrats are scared imho of the "rush limbaud+fox news+palin" combo but it might be just the recognition that they are inept when it comes to sell to middle American their sporadic good ideas.

Democrats here have yet to recognize that the lack of regulation of the mortgage industry is mostly a chris dodd + barney frank screw up (both democrats) and the first inept also involved in corruption... the guy even said that the 0% interest rate CFC gave him was not a gift, as it's a very common financial instrument...

how on earth dodd and frank made it to be chairmen of the banking and financial services committees? why aren't they going to jail after what happened with fannie and freddie, CFC,...??????

I honestly can not stand Rachael Maddow but when does she ever spew things like:

Obama will use Haiti to boost credibility with "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country"

“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”

“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

“The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.”

“They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

Why do we need to attack this way? Is she really worthy of comment? McCain, in a panic, nominates an obscure, right-wing, inarticulate, gun-tottin', trailer trash governess who is not ready for prime time, they lose, and now we act surprised because, in spite of her dopiness, she still appeals to the right-wing?

Look, this past weekend, Daisy Duke went to speak at the John Birch society, and they loved her.... As Gomer Pyle use to say, SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! So we feel compelled to find something “substantive” to criticize, we can't help ourselves, and we select... the hand notes she made.. REALLY? And we couldn't anticipate that this would turn into a comparison of Daisy with her hand notes vs the POTUS with his Teleprompter, thus potentially diminishing Barack in the eyes of the non-partisans in the middle watching all this snipping from the left and right.

Personally, I don't think the Teleprompter OR the hand notes are a big deal, Obama is an articulate guy, does fine in interviews, and she's a dope in all her interviews, that’s that. But when we say that somehow the hand notes – AHA! – are the smoking gun finally proving her inability to retain pertinent information and thus qualification for higher office, how do we then defend Barack and his Teleprompter?

Please, let’s just leave her alone and let her fade into obscurity. And the only way the Republicans would be dumb enough to nominate her is if we stop snipping at her, so let's hope for that instead.

Riversider-
Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the House, she has real power and does represent the Democratic party in a substantive way, there's reason behind attacking her since embarrassing her is embarrasing the Party.

But Sarah Palin, she's just a cult figure at this point. If we keep saying "Sarah Palin is an idiot", "Sarah Palin is an idiot" and the Republicans say, "hey you're right, we're going with someone else, thanks for the advice" how does it help the Democrats?

That strategy is the same as playing roullete, with the Republicans putting all their money on "Red", and the Democrats putting all their money on "00". Yes, the payoff is bigger, but it's a foolish long shot by the party in power.

Maybe that is the case. Why are all the Republicans afraid of Limbaugh? Why did Palin call otu Emanuel for using the R word, bt not Limbaugh? Why did Michael Steele run to apologize to Rush so quickly after calling him an "entertainer"? Why did Rep. Gingrey rush to apologize to Limbaugh so quickly? The last time I checked, I don't recall a radio talk show host ever running the Democratic party. No Democratic Congressman or governor has ever feared Rachel Maddow or Al Franken.

Frankly, you come off just as dumb as Sarah Palin.

Anyone with half a brain and an internet connection could find thousands unscripted Obama "speeches", like that latest Q&A for the republicans that demonstrate that he is clearly a very smart and well spoken man. A broken teleprompter could throw off even the most seasoned speaker.

It's not the bullet-points - it's that Sarah Palin has never come across as coherent. Ever. She is just a rambling, dumb, lunatic. I wonder if she has ADHD? Nothing that comes out from her mouth makes sense.

Frankly I question the sanity of the few idiots I run accross (i.e. NYCMatt) who seem to question Obama's intelligence yet praises an obviously dumb woman like Sarah Palin.

Her explanation of how "retard" is okay to say if you are Rush Limbau is pure brilliance. The whole captivation of Republicans with Sarah Palin has got to make one person more nuts than anyone else: Dan Quayle. He was as good looking, as stupid, as apt to put his foot in his mouth--and yet no one ever really loved him. Why? Oh, the injustice of it all.

glamma: by way of background, Rahm E. said something like the liberal Dems were acting "f-cking retarded." People slammed him for using the "r" word. Limbau then said political correctness is killing us and that 1) Rahm was correct insofar as liberal Dems were behaving like "f-cking retards" and that now 2) there was going to be a conference of "f-cking retards" in DC to discuss the situation. I paraphrase (just youtube or google search for clips), but the point is Limbau used the term pretty much the same as Rahm did and criticized those who criticized Rahm's use of the word.

Palin flip flops a bit in her reaction, but settles on the position that Limbau's use of the "r" word was in the context of "satire" and so it was alright. Her rational was baffling (as is much of how she explains things) but it is now her position and she's sticking to it.

The Dems try to convince people that Palin is more popular with Republicans than she actually is. Most Republicans view her disfavorably and do not want her as the nominee in 2012. She has her share of fans but they are not the majority.

Palin the strawman... makes complete sense. That the Democrats are featuring her on their own web site....

People are generally suckers for strawmen arguments, and Barack "THEY will tell you that...." Obama is the King...

Pick your favorite strawman!

"There seems to be a set of folks who -- I don't doubt their sincerity -- who just believe that we should do nothing"

"I reject the view that . . . says government has no role in laying the foundation for our common prosperity."
