210 west 70th Street Studio for $1350

Has anybody applied for this studio? After applying for it and paying the $100 fee, I got a call from the agent telling me that another person applied for it and offering to pay more for it and I was asked if I am interested in offering more also. I said no thinking that the studio will be rented for that person. Few days later, to my surprise, the studio is not only still listed but for the same price! No body contacted me again. I have a feeling that the purpose of this listing is to get people to pay the $100 application fee and then try to get them to start bidding. My income falls into the 40 times-more-than-the rent requirment and I a have a score of above 750. I don't see any reason for not getting this studio unless they are profiting from the $100 application fees and the bidding.
