I'm looking to rent by myself on the UWS... My income is on the lower end, so I am really only looking to spend $1250-1350/mo. for a studio. I'm willing to go as high as 110th Street and I've heard that it's better to stay as far east as possible (CPW/Columbus/Amsterdam is safer than Broadway/West End/Riverside). Is that reasonable? Can I get a decent apartment in a safe area for that amount? As I mentioned, my income is on the low side, but I have great credit and a great rental history. I have heard that some management companies will look at investments/liquid assets in lieu of a guarantor. Has anyone had any experience with this? Will being able to pay several months rent upfront help my chances or will management companies not take that? Any opinions would be appreciated. [less]
I think the whole neighborhood is safe, but Bway, Riverside Drive and WEA are better
there is a higher likelyhood that you will have to pay additional security deposit rather than rent upfront.
