Sure, you cannot run deficits indefinitely. But the degree to which taxes can be raised depends on desire to do so and how much of a mandate there is. Paterson could only do the minimal. Cuomo will go for the max. And of course he will not cut services at the same rate as raising taxes.

Disagree, Cuomo will be a Wall St. sympathizer because he is hard up for tax revenue.

Spitzer also needed tax revenues but not remembered as very sympathetic to wall st.
But even if Cuomo keeps corporate bills in check as much as possible why wouldn't he go after everything else?
