Discussion about
Is it normal to require management company approval before you can hire some painter to repaint one's own unit in a condo?
the condo just needs to make sure the painter is insured in case he/she pokes a hole in the wall. Approval should really just be a matter of the painter submitting insurance.

thanks fp. management company also want a $500 fee. this seems like robbery to me.
Is that just a refundable damage deposit, in case a ladder chunks out the corridor wall, or the painter's footprints track paint across the lobby or that sort of thing? If so, $500 is quite reasonable. If it's an outright fee, that's outrageous.
its an outright fee to 'approve' the contractor.
