City's auction of estate properties is lackluster

I went yesterday to an auction by the New York City public administrator. Three properties had no bidders. However, a condo and a co-op on the Upper West Side each sold at bargain prices, one of them to a lone bidder, who was ecstatic. She invited me to have coffee "if your wife won't mind." She was barking up the wrong tree!
