Management company requesting Social Security #

Is is standard for a management company to request an owners social security number. Charles Greenthal manages our building, I've owned the unit for 2 1/2 years and I just received a letter that they need my social security # on file for filings with government agencies. I dont understand why they would need it, and certainly not after 2 1/2 years without having it. Please advise if this is standard information that a management company would really need. I am very wary to disclose this information. Thanks!
