Managaement company asking for Social Security #

Charles Greenthal manages the condo I have lived in for the last 2 1/2 years. I received a letter from them that they need my social security # on file for necessary filings with government agencies. I dont understand why they would need it, especially after not having it for 2 1/2 years. Could anyone confirm if this request is standard by a management company. I have asked a few other people in the building and they havent received the request. any feedback would be helpful.
