Anyone owns a harlem townhouse? Any idea the cost of upgrade the plumbing for a 4 story brownstone?
The value of a wholly-owned Harlem townhome would range from $350 per square foot (horrible shape) to $600 per square foot(excellent shape). Whatever it costs to upgrade the plumbing would be minimal relative to the value of the building, and would be a capitalized improvement that would add value to the house. Therefore, you should definitely upgrade. Plumbers in Manhattan will charge at least $100 per hour per skilled plumber plus travel expenses and the cost of materials (probably at least $5,000 per floor, or more if you are using a lot of copper which has surged in value).
