Discussion about
What do people think of Quogue? I've been doing some research and like how much closer it is to the city than further east, but not completely sold on the area. I don't like the scene east of the canal, so really looking for the merits of Westhampton Beach vs. Quogue.
I would say the major negative in my mind to west of the canal is the lack of year round activity. There is just simply much more going on in the off season east of the canal. If you have a family and really don't mind a lack of good restaurants, (ex the Stone Creek inn which is fantastic) then whampton quogue is a beautiful area with great beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.
Having lived and worked West of the canal for 20 years, there is something to be said for the lack of year round frenzy found East of the canal. Quogue, where I happen to sell Real Estate, is a more laid back community. Shorts and flip flops are acceptable attire when shopping, the Village Green pond is frozen in winter for ice skating, entering the Quogue Market is like stepping back in time and the Village Beach is as beautiful as any on the East End. When you desire a little more hustle and bustle, Southampton is 20 minutes away and Westhampton's Main St. is just a few miles away. The only thing you will be missing by living in Quogue is sitting in traffic :)
