Discussion about Chelsea House at 130 West 19th Street in Chelsea
I have been to a few open houses, seems quite solid, great roof deck, OK gym, bike storage (for a fee). Some of the apartments have less than spectacular views.
Too bad there are no A line apartments on the market above the 6th or 7th floor.

report abuse Let's not forget the transaction cost. It's like looking at a mutual fund w/o 12-b1 fees or the 2/20.... and saying that guy beat the market by 3%, bf fees and actually -4% w/ fees. I buy my Porsches w/ net of tax income.... let me know when you can pocket 4.2% below 2005 purchase..... (doesn't sound so bad does it?).... now let's be adults and say 10.2% below 2005 price after 6% commission (sounds a little "worser" doesn't it?).
Do RE transactions get done for $9.99 per transaction?, wake make up when we get E-RETrade.com up and running.
But the D line apartments are the most desired...front to back 1300+ SF with the bedroom facing the back private courtyard and 1.5 baths...the A line unit bedrooms face the street.
Developer installed cheap finishes in the bathrooms and the kitchen. Natural stone was used sparingly: only used for the kitchen counters and bathroom vanity counters, master tub deck; ceramic tiles were installed for the bathroom walls and floors. The bold, huge gray San Agosto tiles with wide grout lines in the master bath walls/floors give off a cold, castle-like appearance. Kitchen cabinets are very cheaply made; upper cabinets have opaque door panels, bottom cabinet doors and draws are edged with metal with a bold pull (design echoes that of cardboard photo storage boxes). Essentially these "custom" cabinets are not of the caliber of Poggenpohl, Boffi, Bulthaup, etc. Kitchen faucet has one of those separate black plastic sprayers (didn't that go out of style after the 1980's?). The Kitchenaid microwave/fan is not properly paired with the Viking range; i.e. the fan is not strong enough to draw out the heat from the high BTU flames of the range, plus it is hung to low to the range which can cause the microwaves electronics to "fry". Unfortunately, a range hood with high CFM required to properly ventilate the high heat from a Viking range was NOT installed by the developer.
