Can I have people's thoughts on the neighbohoods Fort Greene and Clinton Hill? Likes/Dislikes, Thanks!
I have several friends that live in Fort Greene. I think it's a beautiful area with a great park and overall pleasant neighborhood vibe. Our friends complain that there aren't lots of food shopping options (they're consequently all on the Fresh Direct program), however that seems to be the only gripe.
The only reason you can't find "food options" is because who you are a snob who needs an overpriced, overrated, over trendy, uber market like whole foods ( or some other copycat). If you had half a brain to figure out that high prices and high quality don't always correlate you'd find plenty of "food options".
#3, do you say this as someone who cares a lot about the quality of his food, or as someone who simply likes to assume that expensive things are never of high quality?
If the former, perhaps you can provide some constuctive suggestions about less expensive place to get high quality groceries.
Hey Chump, calm yourself. As I clearly said in my post, I was relating the experiences of friends.
I think what Daniel says is true. As a resident of Clinton Hill my only supermarket option within a reasonable walking distance is Associated. Getting meats, as in fish and poultry there is risky. Somtimes it smells a little old. Pathmark is a little further away but it is more than great when it comes to the freshness of the food.
Clinton Hill is an interesting neighborhood, especially those beautiful homes near Pratt University. Every fall they do historic home tours - a great way to see the neighborhood and as homeowners invite you inside to see their houses. The old Brooklyn Navy yard is now being used by big cruise ships like Princess Cruises as their home pier. Great boutique little shops and cafes are about 15 minutes drive north up Myrtle Avenue into Ridgewood. There is an complex of about 12 buildings called the Clinton Hill Apartments that went co-op in the late 1980s, check those out if you are looking for apartment living. Cheers
