Need Some Advice from Finance Experts

Forgive the unrelated thread, but I have a cousin who just graduated from HS and wants to major in finance from an unknown third tier school. Would he be wasting his time? What job opportunities are there for finance grads from such schools? Would he be stuck working as a "financial advisor"? Thanks!
