Discussion about
We're about to move into a new place and almost immediately start renovating the kitchen and two bathrooms. If we stagger the two bathrooms, are we crazy to live there while it's going on? Our budget is limited and we'd rather not spend anything on temporary housing. Any experiences and suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Yes, you are crazy to live there while this is going on. Rent an apartment.

Absolutely move out. No matter what your contractor tells you, the place will be unlivable. Rent a place and save the hassle and your relationship.

We were in a similar position recently and decided it was best to move out. Whatever you save will cost you in efficiency and annoyance. They can't do their job with you in the way, and you'll pay for more hours because they'll have to spend extra time cleaning up constantly. Not to mention the health issues associated with sleeping in a construction site -- the finishing work alone will give you a good dose of chemical exposure.

For your sanity, health and your marriage, stay elsewhere.
