never rented in NYC -Please help

I just got a new job in NYC in the financial services industry. I will be moving now and my family in the summer. So, I am looking for a studio or 1-bdrm in Midtown West (or maybe chelsea, CPS, or UWS) for a 9 or 10 month lease, in a doorman building with a nice gym. I qualify many times over for the income requirements (45x rent, etc), have no pets, dont smoke, etc (I am the perfect tenant,... [more]

yes given the rental market seems to have gotten stronger. did you check out the aka rental buildings? i think they were built with the short term business renter in mind. that might pay, plus, you'll save brokerage fees.

if not, head to craigslist. beware - there are plenty of scammers out there - but also a lot more "for rent by owner" units who may be more willing to negotiate on the term.

the premium aka charges for their shorter than normal term rentals is atronomical, fine if the company is paying the bill, less so if you have to do it yourself.

Dozen eggs. A nice standard dont you think? Easier to pack, easier to ship easier to compare. Sometime when you want seven eggs, you buy the dozen and throw away five. -shrug-

Yeh look at me, I'm allz like 45x rent income but got the common sense of a hick from Tulsa, okc.
