I just got a new job in NYC in the financial services industry. I will be moving now and my family in the summer. So, I am looking for a studio or 1-bdrm in Midtown West (or maybe chelsea, CPS, or UWS) for a 9 or 10 month lease, in a doorman building with a nice gym. I qualify many times over for the income requirements (45x rent, etc), have no pets, dont smoke, etc (I am the perfect tenant, really). Is the way to find such studio to look at web sites like this and nybits and then call the brokers to go see the properties? many dont answer promptly (ie in 24hrs) to emails and it has become hard to manage the situation. Is there a site where I can post what I am looking for and get brokers to reply? Also, in the current rental market in NYC, should I really have to pay a premium for a 9 or 10 month lease over the monthly rate? What do you think? Thank you, [less]
yes given the rental market seems to have gotten stronger. did you check out the aka rental buildings? i think they were built with the short term business renter in mind. that might pay, plus, you'll save brokerage fees.
if not, head to craigslist. beware - there are plenty of scammers out there - but also a lot more "for rent by owner" units who may be more willing to negotiate on the term.

the premium aka charges for their shorter than normal term rentals is atronomical, fine if the company is paying the bill, less so if you have to do it yourself.
Dozen eggs. A nice standard dont you think? Easier to pack, easier to ship easier to compare. Sometime when you want seven eggs, you buy the dozen and throw away five. -shrug-
Yeh look at me, I'm allz like 45x rent income but got the common sense of a hick from Tulsa, okc.
