I just got a new job in NYC in the financial services industry. I will be moving now and my family in the summer. So, I am looking for a studio or 1-bdrm in Midtown West (or maybe chelsea, CPS, or UWS) for a 9 or 10 month lease, in a doorman building with a nice gym. I qualify many times over for the income requirements (45x rent, etc), have no pets, dont smoke, etc (I am the perfect tenant, really). Is the way to find such studio to look at web sites like this and nybits and then call the brokers to go see the properties? many dont answer promptly (ie in 24hrs) to emails and it has become hard to manage the situation. Is there a site where I can post what I am looking for and get brokers to reply? Also, in the current rental market in NYC, should I really have to pay a premium for a 9 or 10 month lease over the monthly rate? What do you think? Thank you, [less]
Haven't you answered your own question?
I'd be happy to help you. I am a broker who has found short term apartments at reasonable rates for financial service professionals working in NYC. I don't work for a landlord or a management company- I work for my customers.

As a suggestion, try calling or going to the websites of large NYC rental companies such as Rose, Related or Glenwood. These companies each have rental buildings all over NYC with doormen and building amenities such as gyms. You will, however, likely have to sign a 1 year lease if that is a dealbreaker for you.
Another website for rental units is urbansherpa.com.
would it make sense to find the place now that you and your family will be living in by mid-late summer '11?
