Discussion about 340 East 80th Street in Yorkville
What is the deal with this building, it seems failry nice, but maintenance is low and appartment prices seems to be lower than its peers. Is there something that I am not seeing?

Not really sure I would agree with "low" maint since 1,100 - 1,300 a month for a 1 BR is pretty much the going rate for many buildings. The complex is huge and the building looks pretty old.
Still, $1,600 does not seem excessive for a 2 bedroom (convertible 3)/2 bath, on a high floor. I guess its on 1st avenue, so maybe that's why its lower than some of the buildings closer to Central Park, or am I way off base here?
Did you actually see the apartment? The rooms aren't that large, and some apartments face First Avenue, so there is the noise factor (VERY LOUD) and also the dust/dirt from the large avenue traffic.
@cmist. Saw an appartment a few weeks back and I thougth that it was pretty good in terms of size. The 2 bedrooms were 12*17 and 11*14, not bad for NY purposes. What I am concerned with (aside with the traffic that you mentioned), is the fact that there is over 440 appartments in these 2 buildings, the fact that the buildings look a bit dated, and the 8ft ceilings.
If anyone has experience with this building, I would appreciate all details.
Why cant anything sell in this bldg. for a long time? Everything is taken off market and last apt. has been in contract for over 3 months?
Hi everyone,
Extell is going to start a new construction a new construction just on the other side of first avenue starting in the next few months (they bought the whole block,

Does anyone have more accurate info about what will be done (such as #stories, construction start date, etc.)? I'm worried about the noise
Just visited a listing here. Maintenance seems justified there are a ton of units in this apartment complex. Lobby is very nicely renovated. The ceiling height is a problem though. It feels a bit less than 8'.
