I applied for an apartment to rent; my parent also filled out a form as guarantor (I'm just graduated from college). Before I had a chance to hand over the check for the application fee(they wanted $100 from each of us), the management company went ahead and did the check and approved me for an apartment. I subsequently decided not to take it. Now they say we owe them $200. What do you think?

I mean "they went ahead and did the credit check"...
