Good article. As regards residential properties, I'd say it applies pretty heavily to the condo market. Most of those Brits, etc. won't be able to (or want to) buy into co-ops, unless they're pied-a-terre friendly and have a light touch.

I think there's an irrational fear factor about buying into co-ops and it depresses the price of them hugely, especially vis-a-vis foreigners. All co-ops get tainted by the stories about the nasty UES blue haired laides who try and control everyones' lives.
