Discussion about
Has anyone had any success with selling their place without a broker? Is this a realistic idea in NYC?
this has been covered on here a bunch of times. The short answer is only if you know how to price reasonably. Do not ask for more because no broker fee is involved. Also you probably need to be open to kicking a 1-2% fee to a buyers broker. While you can get your apartment listed and all on your own and get in the system, most buyers still use a broker and that broker will want to earn their fee somehow.
You will now get lots of answers from brokers telling you that it will not work out for you and offering their help.
how do you get your apartment listed and get in the system without a broker?
Do you think letting brokers advertise your apartment for you (as an open listing) is a good idea? Or just a scam?
I am against open listings.
why are you against open listings?
It was in one of the earlier threads. It is possible to pay a fee from what i understand in order to get into the real estate system. When you say letting a broker advertise for you, normally they only do that for a a fee.
ok - I'll have to check the threads, I guess to see how to get into the real estate system.
they will advertise for you if you offer a buyers broker commission.
price the place right, put it up on streeteasy and ny times saying - No Brokers- buyers or sellers- and I bet you can sell it. Hvaing a good lawyer is the important thing.
Agree with marco_m.
