We should end Social Security and Medicare immediately. This would have the beneficial effect of devastating the ranks of the Tea Party, most of whom are poor old white people opposed to government health insurance plans that might benefit poor young black people. The Tea Party would die off within a year of starvation and disease, never understanding that “socialism” was the only thing that kept them alive. After they’re dead, we should reinstate Social Security and Medicare, and start universal health insurance coverage, which every civilized country already enjoys. The United States would be a much friendlier place without the Tea Party, not to mention the savings on Tea Party member government benefits. Those savings alone might balance the budget!

a good compromise will be to collect the extra revenue needed to pay for the baby boomers from assets instead of wages (taxing capital instead of labor)... otherwise increases in FICA will give disincentives for the young to work.

the key is to protect the young poor and make work pay, not to screw the old. making people that live off capital pay their fair share is the right thing to do imho.
