Discussion about
If there is an open Alteration Type 2 Permit with NYC Building Dept on an apartment I am looking to buy, does the seller need to close that out before I buy? Can I close regardless?

Seller should do so, but, perhaps they may drag their feet & the cost & hassle could fall upon you.

My suggestions: Go to DOB web site & see what's outstanding. Perhaps contact an architect or expeditor now & see what's outstanding. If you take a mtg, I think the bank could object to an open permit.

I meant to ask them the cost of closing out the open permit.
