Discussion about
I visited Breezy Point this past weekend (The place that people with the "THE OTHER END" T-Shirts are talking about) Does anyone know anything about this beachfront community 40 minutes from Manhattan? I was told beach front homes (Atlantic side, not bay) sell for over 2Million, but that you can still buy bungalos on a walk for about 200K, property sizes are tiny, and most homes dont have streets - they have walks like FI... I tried to find a realtor - but the place is very closed off... Also, as a gay man... is this a place homophobic or ready for gentification? Does anyone know about people doing shares out there? It is so much closer, cleaner, and "homey" than FI.... (No heavy duty "all night" parties)

HEY Fan! Breezy is no different than anyplace else in NYC towards gays. I have a gay cop friend that lives there year round. Buying there is hard! Most sales are made to family members - hence all the cops and firemen. Try looking around the park at beach 116th st. If anyone out there is interested in buying half a "fixer upper" summer place with a handy gay guy let me know. You can get a 2 bedroom with a "partial" ocean view for about 500k.... (that's accordinf to the signs that developers have up)

Breezy Point Rules! (This from a gay cop) Kennedy's and the Bay House are very trendy these days. It's still hard to get in without a connection, but I met at least 5 guys last summer that said they were sick of FI or the Hamptons and have been "sneeking in" into Breezy Point or Roxberry. (Mostly because of the commute) - I've never tried it - but there is supposed to be a ferry that drops you off at Fort Tilden. Anyone know about it or where to catch it?
Beach 116th street has a way to go before it really can take off - It's actually far from the Breezy gatehouse and I don't think the beach is as nice. It is public, vs breezy point which is private (I think), plus breezy point is in the middle of a bird sanctuary, so it is totally natural. (Plus, the Breezy beach has all the cute policemen and firemen jumping in the waves ;-)
