Maly, if I may jump on your bandwagon:

Dear Streeteasy, will there be a Brooklyn condo index someday? I heart Manhattan and all, but in the long run I'm headed for Brooklyn.

I think it can be said of all of us on this planet that in the long run, we're headed for Brooklyn.

We'll be releasing the October number at the end of November. As you know, the index is based on closings and there is usually a lag between when a unit closes and when the sale gets recorded with the City. So as we get more data points from the Department of Finance, we will be adjusting the index going 24 months back.

As for a Brooklyn condo index, we'll be looking at this soon but our initial impression is that we don't have enough data points for it to be statistically significant.

Thanks, Streeteasy!

Alan, I'm not sure Brooklyn's big enough for everyone on the planet...
