Grantham is 100% on. Choosing between stocks and bonds is like choosing between two over-priced assets. He also correctly talks about how the lost income to retirees is more detrimental to the economy than the increases bonuses to investment bankers. Also nice to hear someone talk about risk adjusted returns.

Lastly he made a great point on why someone should hold cash. It brings optionality.

Any of you SE bears like Riversider interested in firsthand observation
of bubbles in the beer market? It would be nice to be able to hold an
extended discussion rather than communicating through snippets.

thx for the link. I agree very much with his view. I'm one of those that missed out on the absurdity of the US equity market reflation, but rather than emerging markets, I think commodities will be the thing to watch. I was thinking of getting into a position in rice and it is funny he mentioned it as well. Any commodities experts have recommendations?

Freewilly, It seems that we'll be seeing a long term trend of increased commodity prices with virtually all commodities going up, individual ones correcting but then continuing the upward trend. The demand for many commodities(especially from the far east and developing economies) has grown way beyond the development of new supplies. So we have increased demand, a supply that is not keeping up and a depreciating dollar. I see commodities as doing well for quite some time.

aboutready comes on here and without any instigation whatsoever, is nasty and insulting to Riversider.
These discussions are so much better without that nonsense.
