Discussion about
A website just posted the story of someone who was paying a mortgage on a place that wasn't as nice as the place he or she decided to rent. of course sunk costs are sunk costs, but why do people buy units like this in the first place? Do folks not engage in RENT VS BUY analysis? But in many ways, the apartment we rented at XXXXXXXXX was nicer than the one we sold.

stoopid. rents were very high in 2000, and I'm fairly certain pcv wasn't yet offering renovated units for rent. try again. keep trying, over and over and over. obsessed much?

why do you keep visiting BU? you don't already have enough sites on your daily viewing list to misquote from?

Perhaps they think of it as buying a cheap option on the real estate market. If the real estate appreciates more than the extra cost to buy, then there you go. Not saying it's a smart investment, but that's probably the thinking.

uwsfamily, since rs has already alluded to the piece, here is what he is referring to and trying to deride.
