Discussion about
One of the great features of Streeteasy is the list of price changes. Given the tendency of brokers to inflate the square-footage of an apartment, not just at the original listing but when it is relisted after not selling or shifted to another agency, wouldn't it be a good service for Streeteasy to list all previous square-foot measurements? That strikes me as the only way one can fight this common (mis)practice.
That's a great suggestion -- and it caused me to think of another.
Why doesn't StreetEasy enable the community to develop consensus on the square footage of a listing. If you have some type of sq. ft. voting device for listings, you could list the broker's stated square footage and the community consensus. Or you could at least allow users to put in their own private sq. ft. rating. :) Fun for all.
Since the previous listings and even condo offering plan may overstate, how about streeteasy getting a simple software (plus some outsourced team) to measure the square footage based in the plan & post it for people who pay a premium. Say $25 a month or increase the monthly charge for every one to $15 or $20.
