Discussion about
Also, a woman at PCV whose husband bills at $700 per hour broke her toilet and is waiting for PCV to pay for a new one. http://www.dnainfo.com/20101202/lower-east-side-east-village/police-hunting-knifewielding-man-suspected-of-robbing-woman-peter-cooper-village
Is your plan to make SE worthless?
We can all use BrickUnderground instead
yes, actually there has been a mugger in PCV. there has also been a much more active one on the UES.
my bad, didn't realize this was a troll post.
At what point does the security risk trump the attractive rent?
i don't know, rs, ask the people on the UES who have had a far worse mugger situation recently.
The upper east side is different. There are many buildings, many of which are doorman protected. I don't think one can generalize about the entire Upper East Side in nearly the same manner. Peter Cooper/Stuyvesant town is closer to a homogeneous enclosed community with a common management company, security, etc
at what point do you move if crime moves into your pristine neighborhood?
i don't have much to lose. even if i buy.
Well my bet is it may bet worse, but ultimately the community, management company and city pull together and put an end to the crime. In the meantime, it's very sad.
so wrong, rs. we have a very cohesive population. and it's over 11,000 apartments, it's a damned neighborhood unto itself.
and the rash of muggings that occurred recently? upper east side.
one in PCV, six or seven in UES.
You're right. with so many people in such close proximity, the media is over-exposing something that otherwise would get unnoticed.
what is sad? the fact that you feel sad? despite that nobody needs or wants your sadness?
No, the fact that I backed away from an opinion, agreed with you, and you used that to attack.
You two agree? Does that mean the end to the knife wielder?
actually, i will readily admit that we were both posting at the same time. so i did not realize while i was typing that you were backing away from an opinion.
my apologies.
ar..... 13214 posts
Accepted. Let's move on.
ar - give it a rest. I know that you have put up with so much bs, but you need to maintain your dignity. Not everyone is out to get you - in fact, I think most would agree that you're very bright and have added a lot of value.
minus of course the cost of the toilet seat and the treble damages from the lawsuit
new2RE: any thoughts for the troll?
Ar, how about your teenage daughters safety? I've said many many times you live in a glorified ghetto. You reap what you sow.
what you talkin' about honesy? actually there has been a large number of muggings on the upper east side, only one so far in PCV.
Interesting. Where were you last night at 9:15?
As you well know, I am talking about the drug clinics, adjacent public housing and general air of menace where you choose to call home. I don't live on the ues either, so I really don't care. I know that if you cared about your family, you won't be renewing your lease.
Her husband is never there, and she just has one daughter.

This time of year this always happens...they'll be caught...when I read about stuytown and pcv my first thought was imagine paying so much rent and not being protected...but it can happen anywhere...I just feel safer having a doorman.
honesy, you're so nastily bitter.
but, no, i don't see any adjacent public housing, no "air of menace" in this community of 40-50% elderly who clearly also haven't felt compelled to run to the hills. this is hardly a poverty-stricken community.
i probably won't be renewing my lease more than once, i'll likely be buying my 1200 sf apartment for less than $400k. suck it, asshole.
wait...AR should not renew her lease because of a mugging...then we will all have to leave manhattan and move to where?
They say, the #1 reason for having a doorman is the security value.
julia, there are many ways to protect yourself. for example, if someone cant help but let someone in who may or may not appear to belong (it happened to me today), take the stairs up to the first floor and catch the elevator from there.
over the last six years i've had almost zero concerns for safety, both here and the neighborhood my daughter goes to school. now i have concerns both places, but i don't think i need a doorman (actually, it's a preference thing). likely crime is rising, and who knows what will happen if congress eliminates extended ue benefits. be aware.
1200 sq ft for 400k? Don't doubt it. Its clear you don't mind putting your teenage daughter in harms way seeking a bargain living in marginal neighborhoods. Good on you.
So you'll admit to Julia you live in a sketchy place, but not otherwise. Don't you realize we can all read what you wrote?

This is the troll that you agreed with.
AR...I agree..having a doorman is a pain..they love to gossip and it makes me annoyed at times..pcv and stuytown have always had a great safety record and considering how many people live there (11k) and 2 muggings..
Please...can't the bullies stop, at least for the holiday season...I'm really glad that AR is back posting and always with good information..I don't understand all the taunting and hatefilled speech but I would appreciate if you would stop.
CC, I'm not the troll. You and AR are just that unpopular.
Do you even know what propertyshark is? Did you have to google? Ever used it? Probably not, no message board :(. What use would a guy like you or a gal like ar have for it then?
Of course you're the troll.
what about CarolSt?
AR, any examples of nice 1200sqf apts for sub $500k or is that more of a conjecture?
As I recall, ST/PCV has a substantial private police force (with patrol cars), emergency call boxes, and probably CCTV surveillance ... ?
recall?
Your ip address is known...be careful troll...
I know 3 people whose apts have been burglarized within the last 3 weeks thru out Mnahattan & now these muggings. Stay alert when you're outside & don't forget to lock apt doors & windows.
Hey wide bottom, you threatened to cancel your paying membership here if a post isn't taken down. Now you are threatening other posters? What gives?
$10?
Apparnently they have video footage of the guy

cc, can you honestly say you're any different than the troll? (hint: no)

CC is radically different from the troll, by the way
We'll just have to agree to disagree, ah.
He uses his Troll powers for "good"?
se10024, who knows if it will happen, but talks are going forward to convert this complex to coop, and it appears as though there is a fair chance of success.
if it does occur, the consensus is that for it to succeed insider sales of apartments need to be priced at an average of around $290 psf.
