Discussion about
Starting today all new accounts will be subject to moderation. We will decide on a case-by-case basis, how long moderation will last for a particular person. We didn't want to go this route, because it will delay some good questions/comments. It also creates busy work for us and we would rather spend our time on real estate features. We know it won't be perfect, but it will certainly slow the trolls. Please continue to provide us with feedback when you encounter comments which are unwelcome. Many thanks to those of you who have provided us with ideas regarding the best ways to manage the scourge of the trolls.
midtowner: you're truly a troller, with bait and everything. Good for you.
ar, i know the context very well... this is not acceptable (same way as it's unacceptable for troll to post ANYTHING about anyone else's family)
your point is taken. my apologies.
Free W67th!
Spinnaker -- Actually, no; I don't meet that definition at all. I was simply responding to your ridiculous lecture. You just don't like anyone disagreeing with you, so you cry "troll" in order to squelch any discussion. I see that my guess about your arrogance was dead on.
You're doing great midtown. Seems you found a home here. Good work. Keep those high value contributions coming.
I like the football style yellow and red cards. Perhaps instead of full-on banning after 3 yellows, the miscreant could get an icon like Hester Prynne's scarlet A. But a big ol' honkin' scarlet T next to their name, instead?
Wait a tick, clever man. That's sarcasm, right? I can see why others on the board are so impressed with your towering intellect. Really had me there for a second.
So 5 days into Discussion Board Moderation 2010 it seems like things are pretty good
No troll
Minimal new Riverspam threads
No political shouting matches
Board somewhat self-policing
You really know the tension level is down when Truth, aboutready and civility all appear at the same time on the thread about the upcoming East 57th St Whole Foods. Those three didn't used to spend time together
Riverspam political threads replaced by stevejhx-spam political threads, however.

sidelinesitter: As you know, I don't care what aboutready posts about. I live in Midtown East. I posted a relevant comment.
The same goes for "MidtownerEast"; who clearly is now trolling spinnaker.
"Talk changes"?!
For example:
I was able to work out my differences with julialg, without new rules and "Talk changes".
Any non-drunken adult posting comments could have, and can now still do the same.
See what I mean? Any challenge to the right-wing coterie/hate crowd elicits claims of "stalking" or "troll." Plus, now that I know Truth lives in Midtown East, I'm thinking about a new moniker. Perhaps "Amnesty for W67." Or "DrunkenAdult."
Or....
Hfscomm1?
Even drunk, I can't be trollish. It's just not in me. Or engage with trolls. I have a half-mad idea that maybe I_am_the_troll and it's another one of my multiple personalities. Am I waking up tired every morning because I post ridiculous things in the middle of the night.
MidtownerEast/aboutready, has known where I live. She needs no new information to "think about a new moniker".
It's very easy, to see what I mean.
nyc10023: I have, nor have I ever had any problem/complaint about you.
Goodnight, nyc10023. Tuck the kids in and sleep tight. Don't let the aboutready bedbug bite.
The troll creates many accounts. Sometimes he's creative with the names. We have removed more than 300 of his accounts recently. Some he posted from just a few times, others were regulars. Some he left as "sleeper" accounts, so he could post from "old" accounts.
Just a few: nopigsorshrimp, bslotkin, splaken, reallypissed, vornaise, debfrank, Poster, tomlawner, Maxsfisher, komo, ootin, omg, rule109g, pitishiro
