Discussion about
Crains reports Extell is being asked for 20-30% affordable housing 150,000 square foot school All while housing prices are no expected to rise and the the length of time required to sell high priced condos has greatly increased. Sounds like this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back. http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20101205/REAL_ESTATE02/312059975

It sounds like they should just drop the unprofitable-sounding development altogether.

Riversider: just about the only people who don't support Community Board 7's requests for affordable housing & 150k foot school & DO support an auto dealer in the retail space are the ones who live in Avery/Rushmore/lower RSB. I wonder why :)

From what I remember, Extell bought the land based on CURRENT zoning and are gambling that they will be approved for MUCH greater density. There are also all sorts of tricks like not mapping the through streets which allow them to increase FAR. Please research this before spouting. CB7 members & Councilwoman Gail Brewer have worked for years to research these issues.
