Thanks. I am looking for hardwood construction with a white laquer paint and then a marble (or stone) top.

What should I do about a radiator that makes a lot of whistling noise?

Highly recommended for integrated radiator covers, shelving, etc. As well as other related projects:

Thanks everyone. Do you suggest going with a cabinet maker or someone who specializes in AC/Radiator cover construction to ensure the air and heat are properly functioning?

I spoke to one custom cabinet maker who does make integrated radiator covers but he said that if you have through wall ACs, you cannot make the grate / vent at the top bc it would not allow for proper air flow. I thought you would be able to avoid making the grates on the sides, has anyone been able to do this? Thanks.

haideestreet, did you end up doing the project? If so, are you happy with it? How much did it cost ( per radiator ) & did you end up with grates at the top? I did see covers with grates at the top and I do think it might have presented a problem in that particular apartment.

If there is any new input from other folks, would be great as well!

I used David Vincent Woodwork from the Bronx. I wasn't bowled over by the quality or the service. I think there are better choices.

I'm looking for someone who can make custom wood air conditioner covers. I just moved into a unit and the air condition coveres are over 40 years old and falling apart, they are so old that they no longer sell them.

Has anyone done this recently and have someone they can recommend? Can anyone give me an estimate of the cost per unit?

Can anyone recommend someone to make custom wood air conditioner covers? Any thoughts on how much this would cost?

Just be careful with a/c's that vent from the top. You have to include a rectangular sleeve around the a/c's vent so that all the air goes out the top of the cover. Otherwise, a lot of the air stays under the top of the new cover, causing a moisture buildup. A number of people in my building did custom air conditioner covers to blend in with a custom storage unit around the windows. They had a lot of problems with mold/mildew.

Thanks jelj I will keep that in mind. Do you know if the people in your building were happy with the quality of the work itself? If so do you know who they used? Do you have any sense of how much one unit would cost? Appreciate the feedback.
