In reviewing the specifications of the project, I can tell you that the loss of the Water Taxi will be the biggest loss for the community. There is no reason for LIC to lose this valuable infrastructure. In fact, the only reason for doing away with the water taxi, would be to increase the value of Greenpoint properties at the loss of LIC residents. It would be far better to force the city to provide the transportation and greenspace infrastructure that would unite the waterfront from Williamsburg to LIC than to impair the development of one area for the betterment of another. While the Mayor's proposal for "middle-income" housing is valuable, families making 50k to 140k can buy marketplace apartments right now without having to force them to live in public housing. This project needs to be explained and discussed as an infrastructure calamity! The waterfront can be the jobs creator and valuable link to an environmentally challenged city. Ferry service and boating will bring more jobs than a public housing project. We cannot seriously look to improve our lifestyles when we lose our vital infrastructure. [less]
where can you find specifications about this project?
Is there some indication that the water taxi service to LIC is going away?
yeah, I was wondering that also. I hadn't heard that.
