Discussion about
We are interested in a 30 unit condo with a board of 8 members. No sponsers, only owners. What is a typical board size, and how do you make final decisions with a group that large. I have never lived in a condo before. Just wondering if this is trouble.

My building has 5 on the board, with 25 units.
8 for 30 is a little on the high side, but not unreasonable. I'm not sure what trouble you would be referring to, though.

My last building, a condo, had about 50 units and five board members, later expanded to seven (due in large part to absence rate at Board meetings).

It's unusual to have an even number -- what happens in the event of a tie vote?

I think my concern is can 8 people make a group decision, Since I can barely get 2 people to see my point of view (and I hope it's not me), just wondering how 8 people can ever reach a quorum and if this was a recipe for not being able to make decisions. Also with 8 people you have to get a 5 to 3 for a majority, which in elections is a landslide.
