Are bed bugs enough to scuttle a sale, assuming a contract has already been signed?

Probably because some idiot hauled a live Christmas tree into the building.

Probably, if not disclosed. It's a pretty big issue in this building apparently, and the owner & management are not informing people.

New York law requires parties to business transactions to voluntary disclose "special facts"
whch they know are unknown to their counter-parts.

What does a "live Christmas tree" have anything to do with a condo sale falling through and bedbugs?

Matt,

Werent there bedbugs before Christmas? Why would a person who brings in a Christmas tree be an idiot?

Hello!

Bringing a tree into your apartment hat's been out in the woods for two years, then sitting out on the sidewalk for God only knows what can climb into it is what's idiotic.

That's certainly plausible.

The question is did the sale to fall through b/c of the bedbugs... They are definitely a major problem in this condo, but I guess for the right price someone might be willing to deal with them (though maybe not in the case of this sale)

I'm not a grinch.

I just find it ironic that in a city of people who are so paranoid about bedbugs that they wrap their luggage in plastic, refuse FreshDirect deliveries, and won't set their bags down on the subway floor for even a second ... we certainly seem to have no problem bringing something into our homes that's been sitting out on the street for days.

Bedbugs need humans to survive. Trees in woods - not exactly a bedbug infestation issue.

Wow! That is one of the most idiotic statements I've read recently. Going with that "logic", you're an idiot for buying food at the grocery store since items at the store at made and grown from all corners of the country and the world! Imagine the horror - fruits and vegetables that are outside being sold - wait for it --- inside a warm and comfortable building with lots of people around - bed bug central!

So, matt - you're a Christmas hater? Figures.

On the contrary. I happen to LOVE Christmas.

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of the bedbug paranoia.

if a tree was sitting outside in the freezing cold, i would assume all bedbugs would die. Afterall, the remedy is to "freeze" them.
