I have this friend from Japan and she is a TV host and she is looking to buy a high-end condo in Manhattan, she is only in NYC until tomorrow Dec31, leaving on Jan01, with her TV camera crew, filming a documentary of her buying condo in NYC. This show will be aired on Japanese national TV (TBS) station on Jan12, so it will be a good appeal to Japanese investers also (right now Dollar is very cheap to Jp Yen so it is good time for them to buy) It has to be condo with some NYC skiline dazzling views. price range up to 4-5 million. It is a last minute but if you are the owner wants to sell, or, a broker who can help this, let me know at hktkhs (at) gmail com

I would offer to show her my dazzling PH apartment for 5 million, but we require 32 hours notice, actually 34 hours notice for Japanese TV shows. If she's back soon, please let me know.

My brother agreed to let a television crew film a few episodes of a show in the kitchen area of his suburban house last year. Despite the nice financial incentive that they got, my sister-in-law told me that they would never agree to do that again since the crew made an enormous mess in both the kitchen and the downstairs powder room.

Is $2-5 million really considered "high-end" in New York?

and they will film that apartment again on 12/31/2011 when the proud owner of it will have tears in her eyes
IF she is still alive

exhibit A
2011 Mortgage Gate will die as a headline story. In fact it will go the other way during the year. Increasingly, the problems in real estate will be focused on the fact that there has been too few foreclosures. That too many people had been living in a home without paying a dime becomes a cost that all have to bear. As a result there will be a much higher level of foreclosures throughout the year. Contrary to expectation, residential real estate for average priced homes will not decline much further. However, prices for high-end homes will continue to fall. Anything with a price tag of greater than $1mm will be worth 20% less by the end of the year.

If the teared-up owner financed in dollars he/she may jump from the balcony
Exhibit B
The market will finally wake up to the fact that the YEN is not a good store of wealth. The continuing argument will be, “Yeah the Yen stinks, but everything is worse so it should be okay”. Wrong. The Yen is a short. The best currency trade of the year will be long Sterling short Yen. There will be better levels to put this trade on then exist today; be patient.

If still alive, he/she will feel threatened in New York and will join thousands like her to get rid of that nasty investment
Exhibit C
The center of attention will move away from California as the most bankrupt state. In his State of the State address in January, New York’s new Governor Andrew Cuomo will fess up to the fact that for the past year of so NY has been burying its problems. Substantial cutbacks in spending will be the result. NY State long -term GOs will trade at 6% at some point in the year.

Exhibit D like this is the END
Social unrest will become visible in America in 2011. There will be demonstrations in many major cities. Some will turn violent. Economics will be at the heart of the anger. The frustration that was evident in France in recent years will come to the US.
