My husband and I have lived in this building for 6 years and really love the building staff. However in the past 2 years new management has taken over the financial management of the building and are a nightmare to work with. They tack on fees, rude with service and my husband and I cannot wait til our lease is up to move. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

wmorris: May I ask the name of the new mangt.co.? They sound like the fools who took over the mangt. of my building, after BHS quit.
They tacked on unauthorized fees, onto my common charge bills: Arrears, even though I have always paid my c.c. on time. Then, the Board sued me with a frivolous lawsuit and began tacking on the condo's legal fees. And "legal fees arrears".

After filing a motion to dismiss, their lawsuit was thrown out; and I got an injunction against the Board and managing agent.
If it's not specifically written into the condo's bylaws , legal fees can't be "charged back" to owners.

chelsea centro is a rental.. you are in different situations.

ekartash : Yes, different; yet very similar.

What does the rental lease say, wmorris?

As a renter, you have a better shot at fighting back, than an owner does.
It won't cost you the $100,K+ that it cost me. Go to Tenant/Landlord court.
Don't allow yourself to be bullied.

There might have been a rough stretch some years ago but now the building is superb (IMHO). New gym - so that each elevator bank now has it's own gym. Incredibly clean. Upscale clientele. Friendly and efficient doormen / concierge. Endless small touches that I have seen lacking in my friends buildings, such as hallways and laundry area that are air conditioned, and a beautiful lobby. It does look like management is aggressive in seeking market rents.
