Discussion about
We're starting to look around for architects, most likely for a job like expanding a kitchen, re-working closet space/hallways, and the like (in other words, not a full gut reno). If possible, we'd like someone who specializes in prewar detailing (we're not interested in ultra-modern design). I'd greatly appreciate any and all suggestions, especially from those who've worked directly with someone they like and can recommend Thanks very much!
Hi bramstar.
I can reccomend - Design by Francois - www.francoistenenbaum.com
He is a designer but works with an architect when needed.
Good luck with your renovation.
Hello bramstar I recommend www.nodenyc.com they are architect and engineers that helped me with several projects from gut reno on uws to adding another floor on a building and also minor bathroom n kitchen works. What I loved was how they were able to maximise the space and make the floorplan better than what I imagined.

Bramstar,
I am a general contractor, thought I should be up front with that.
I have worked with many architects and designers and would be happy to recommend them. You can email me and I can give you several if you would like.
some of their work is on my website www.primerenovationsnyc.com
A lot of it is modern but they do all types of renovations
sorry, forgot my email:
primerenovations@mac.com
In 23 years in the design industry, i have never met a more talented and professional architect.

Thanks, everyone, for these recommendations. I'll check out their sites.
I just finished a gut reno job with Platt Dana Architects and loved them!! Ask for Hope Dana. Their website has a lot of pics of completed projects - plattdana.com. Good Luck!
I have not worked with Ann Macklin but I am working with a designer right now who uses her all the time and days very good things about her.
