Should hire inspector to check for mold, etc?

Discussion about
Hi, should we check for mold, asbestos and other toxic substances e.g. lead paint, before we close on the apt? Do people hire inspectors to inspect their coop apt before closing?

Mold is generally a factor only for a brief period of construction years, when certain Chinese-made wallboard was in circulation. And its effects would be readily apparent by now.

Asbestos and lead paint are of no concern: avoid asbestos if you're a lifelong chainsmoker and also have a lifelong career in the manufacture or removal of asbestos; avoid the temptation to feed paint chips to children.

On a related note, bedbugs don't spread diseases to human beings.
