Check out the crazy sales history for this unit. The 2002 buyer really took a bath at resale. Sheesh. http://streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/577364-condo-222-riverside-drive-upper-west-side-new-york
That was a miscalculation. The actual sale price was $2,100,000.
The taxes as recorded by the city were:
..$8400 ($4 per thousand)
$21000 (1% mansion tax)
------
$29400
Somebody took the $29400 total (instead of the $8400) and divided by .004 to get $7,350,000.
Still a good bubble pattern, though.
The seller is the actor on Law & Order - obviously bought it in the first flush of stardom. Still, that resale price must have hurt.
Bramstar: SE has the 2002 price wrong. It was $2.1MM ($8,400/.004, or $21,000/.01), not $7.35MM.

Benno Schmidt's old apartment, FWIW.
Curse you NWT. I should have known you'd beat me to the punch if I started researching provenance.
Ah, but you don't see all those where I'm still digging while you're posting....
D'oh. I didn't even bother to check. Thanks, NWT and West for setting the record straight...
Right you are. The registrar made a data entry mistake. We have corrected this closing and associated numbers. Thanks!
