Discussion about 221 West 82nd Street in Upper West Side
Also wondering about this building. Have noticed some sponsor units on the market recently. Is it a newish conversion?
Good analysis from nyc10023 here: http://streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/9328-whats-the-deal-with-221-west-82nd
221W82 is a condop. That's not necessarily a terrible thing; it just means that the coop is one unit within a condo ownership structure. Condops tend to have high maintenace, because they generally derive no benefit from ground-floor retail space and often carry more debt than the average coop. The building itself is a rather ordinary Broadway prewar. The apartments and common areas do not stand out in a positive or negative way. The lax screening process at 221W82 appeals to buyers who would otherwise gravitate to condos.
Thanks West81st! Much appreciated. Any favorite UWS pre-war condos? I vaguely remember a thread on UWS condos but my search through the SE discussions is proving fruitless.
