Many units are living in the cold as their heating units do not work, one elevator is constantly getting stuck with residents getting trapped for up to two hours while waiting for help, the squeaks and clash of metal of the elevators trying to go up and down can be heard in your apartment all day and night, the majority of the cardio equipment in the gym does not work.
The lawyer and his management team will avoid fixing any issue. They are completely unprofessional and impossible to deal with. Look for a different building if you are apartment hunting! Almost every weekend there is a moving truck out front and frustrated renters are moving out. Don't be fooled into moving in.
Maybe when it gets bought by a new company, things will turn around. It's a shame because the apartments are nice and it could be a great place to live.

RENTER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A BLDG THAT DOES NOT HAVE A C of O (CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY) AND HAS MANY CODE VIOLATIONS. ONLY 1 OF THE 2 ELEVATORS, IS OPERATIONAL, AND IT HAS REGULAR PROBLEMS. THE ISSUES ARE TOO MANY TO LIST, AND THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY HAS A LESS THAN IDEAL REPUTATION.
I've lived in 385 Union for over a year, and am now moving out. Too many false promises from management and not enough solutions. One elevator has been out of service for almost a year, while the over elevator works at most half the time. Neither elevator worked for over three consecutive months. I suppose the elevators were shut down after repeated instances of people getting stuck inside.
One tenant was mugged in the lobby a few months back, so the old management company hired a (very) part-time doorman. The new management company has since removed the doorman, which explains why the lobby and area immediately outside are freshly adorned with garbage, vomit and broken glass every weekend with no one bothering to clean it up. The building did have a great super who was cordial, professional but unfairly overmatched by the troubles of the building. That super no longer works for the building, and management has not replaced him.
Being close to Barcade is cool though.

BEWARE - MICE INFESTATION IN 385 UNION.
Please think twice before living in this building. We are moving after a year and a half because of a disgusting rodent problem, caused by GDC properties' negligence. The building manager, Mark Farber, was completely unresponsive and indifferent to our extreme suffering to the point that we had to file a 311 complaint against the building. There is huge turnover in the building (currently there are several apartments which have been vacant for months) which demonstrates how little people like living here. Save your money and peace of mind - stay away from this building.

This is a terribly run building. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Union Ave is constant fire engines, police sirens, massive amounts of construction in all directions, and crowds outside of Barcade will be loud until 4am. UNSAFE - Building broken into several times and entire package room was raided. BEWARE - Management GDC Properties are complete crooks especially Mark Farber, and will screw you any chance they can. Building falling apart, heat/AC and appliances break every few months. On site staff are paid next to nothing and hate working there, as a result you get some very questionable people hanging around the building.
