Discussion about 21 Howard Place in Windsor Terrace
Curbed did an item about 21 Howard Place, too. "Should Brooklyn House of Horrors Come With a Discount?"

If there is no chance of the murderer coming back for seconds, sure...
only if the selling agent was a curator
@sjtmd - very funny, indeed! Ali?
Would You Buy a House Where Someone Was Killed?
No way!
Agree with sledgehammer on that.
see: "My Ghost Story" on Bio channel.
It's not another Ghost Hunter show (which Mrs.Keith B. and I both are fans of).
Only if I got to pick who was killed there.
HAHAHAHAHA! Sick, but funny.
@STEVE; LOL! I literally burst out laughing . . .
If you search for murder on streeteasy, apparently this has been discussed before but about someone who was in contract before finding out.
Hahaha burg, that's even funnier!
No way. I grew up in a house where many people suffered and died (had been used as a hospital during the revolutionary war) and it was always a bit creepy. Ghosts? Who knows. Whatever it was, it wasn't pleasant.
No, there are so many listings with price drop, that will continue to drop, so why to buy a property where someone was killed?
we are not in 2007 anymore :)
If it was a random killing, no way. If the victim knew the killer, well that could happen anywhere and has nothing to do with the address or apartment. Saftey is the issue; that's it. Can you imagine how many apartments in the city had murders in the last 100 years? How would you know? I had also lived in a renovated nursing home on West 85th and that was kind of busy with paranormal. I never believed in any of that until I saw it with my own eyes. Even then, no danger.
bram and Bill: My Ghost Story is a good show.
No night vision camera ghost-hunting. Just regular folks catching what they've been experiencing on video.
Truth: It's a good thing that kind of technology wasn't around all those years ago. The playback might have been really scary. All we did at the time was laugh when we encountered them, due to our age. I think that's what got rid of them. Imagine, insulting paranormal right out of the building in a huff.
Truth--I'll have to check it out. Sounds cool.
Bill--LOL--insulting the ghosts! I'll bet they weren't used to THAT kind of treatment.
By the way, Bill--I'm told my brother and I used to report seeing them as little kids--took it all with a grain of salt til my 3-yr-old niece went to visit and started talking about the 'angel' that lived in the house... sheesh.
bramstar: YIKES......What in the name of Haley Joel Osment did she see?
people have died in most homes, no? so the difference lies in knowing the circumstances of a particular death vs. not knowing. if you're someone who believes in ghosts, you believe they're around everywhere. if you don't, what does it matter?
Yes, they're around everywhere. But the ones who were murdered died a violent death.
Who needs those bad vibes in an apartment or house they are buying?
bram: that's interesting and the norm for young kids living in/visiting those places.
Bill: They would have come back, if only you apologized. They were addicted to that location. At least they weren't insulting or threatening you.
Now,they can post a "Farewell" comment/discussion on SE; and then never actually leave. LOL!
>>bramstar: YIKES......What in the name of Haley Joel Osment did she see? <<
Who on earth knows... at least she wasn't scared. So it was probably a 'good' ghostie.
>>bram: that's interesting and the norm for young kids living in/visiting those places.<<
I've heard that as well... Guess it must be true!
truth, what i mean is that unless the death occured in the last few decades and was publicized, the potential buyer wouldn't know about it. that doesn't mean it didn't happen or the ghosts of that death are not haunting the place. the buyer just doesn't know about it. the questions is, do they still see the ghosts and feel their presence? deeeeeep.
bramstar, my husband is half virginian (the real kind, not NOVA transplant), and he's been at civil war battle fields at night drinking or i don't know wtf they did there. this is a straight up science geek with a perpetually growing list of letters after his name, he swears up and down there are ghosts there. he says they follow you around and you can hear their foot steps and feel them standing next to you. i think they were just high, but he says not always.
the guys were high, not the ghosts
High or not, he is probably right. Me, If I had my druthers I would not want any part of it. However; when you have that life experiance, you cannot deny. The difficult part is explaining it. And then we move on.
lucile: I remember back in the 1980's(?) when Helen Hayes's haunted house in Nyack went on the market it was determined that disclosure by owners be given to potential buyers (only to those who ask? Any of the SE RE expert realtors can give the info on this).
If they are friendly spirits (or family members/friends/former residents who just want to stay on or visit) it's not a problem. It's very comforting. The Europeans and especially Brits and U.K. are O.K. with it.
It's the lost spirits who can't/won't move on because of whatever reason:(a message to loved ones that they want to contact, or the murder victims who want to stay to send/contact the living their messages). Sometimes it's just sense-memory: energy that lingers on in the form of audio/visual sightings. They don't know other people are there now, it's just an ongoing playback.
The others, real hauntings -- They can keep you up all night.
The Civil War re-enactors see some very interesting things. Your husband was one of them.
Bill: We can't explain. We can't deny. We can stay or move away.
When you experience it -- yes you sure do know.
These spirits, are they alanhart type spirits (alcohol), or columbiacounty type spirits (dead angry people)?
huntersburg: LOL!
Trouche douche..got yourself a bro...finally
"The Civil War re-enactors see some very interesting things. Your husband was one of them.
i don't know that he's ever actually dressed up in a costume and re-enacted a scene from an armed conflict.
I like profiting off the irrationality of others.
lucille: Maybe your husband was just there observing. And being observed.
He was there for the experience and he sure did have one.
somewhereelse: So buy that property in Windsor Terrace. Make a profit.
Buy now or be priced out forever.
Hi, Truth!
Within a minute, that puny putz ah is here again.
It's the only action he gets -- so it excites him.
