Discussion about
I did a study. Well, ok, actually I just browsed the sire but it has a MUCH wider variety of everything I normally buy. So I am trying it for the 60-day free trial. http://www.peapod.com/site_frameset.jhtml?NUM1=1302790898862
the shipping charge is high even if you are ordering just a few things. But the prices for some of the items seem reasonable enough.
The selection is soooo much wider.
Minimums are higher and also timeslots seem to sell out even faster.
I guess its worth it to me to be able to buy pretty much whatever I want, whereas with FD I was doing my half my shopping the old fashioned way. Simple things like I want sugar-free pancake syrup, or full gallan containers of milk...PP has these not FD.
I didn't know that anybody in NY drinks milk. I knew that RE bulls drink Kool-Aid, though.
Does PP offer sidecars?

You are just a strange and weird man. Every bodega and supermarket and Duane Reade and CVS and so on has a diary section. Why do you even post such idiotic things?
Yes, for coffee ... Not to drink.
Also for their snap crackle pop.
alanhart is hilarious!
Don't take everything so literally jason10006 and maybe you'll appreciate alanhart's humor too.
jason, did you answer the question? does PP offer sidecars?
and they don't have low-sodium black beans so that's a big fail in my book.
thank the gods ah is strange. otherwise he'd be starting idiotic threads about san francisco weather on a NY real estate board.

Feisty!?
back from yet another vacation this year? How many has it been? 5 weeks? 6?
Great to see you back, AR. xox
AR, how are you, when is the next SE gathering?
AR,
LOL at sidecars!
So my delivery came on time. They use very sturdy plastic bags (not the flimsy ones most stores use) instead of boxes. They will recycle the bags for you if you give them to the driver next visit. i like bags better than boxes as I can re-use them much easier. Also, the first 60 days is free delivery. Also they gave me a $15 credit for using them my first time. Also a nice lady just called me to ask if everything was ok. I told her one item was broken, they gave me a credit.
All-in-all a better customer service experience than Fresh Direct.
As for the quality of meat, food, etc - same or better. AND unlike FD PP has many GENERIC brands. So in terms of expense - yes , higher deliver costs, but your actual groceries are cheaper if like me you buy generic egg beater, generic mil, detergent, etc. Almost no generics with FD.
We will see, it may later suck, but for now I will stick with these guys.
I haven't used FD in a few years but when I did I thought they were awful. The selection was terrible - they have only 1-2 varieties of the items they actually stock and it is just as expensive as the local grocery store. It is far better to get a Zip Car once a month or every six weeks and go to the ShopRite in Hoboken and stock up on non-perishables. For what I paid FD or the local grocery store for a 4-pack of Charman, I can get a 12-pack at ShopRite. Plus they have a huge selection. I would much rather spend 2 hours once every six weeks than deal with FD; plus, thay I don't have to think about it for 6 weeks. I get my veggies and meats from Whole Foods. Whole Foods has great produce at the same price as the crappy produce I used to get at Gristeedes. Just my two cents worth.
Try peopod.
Have not tried it, but Food Emporium has online too.
jason,
peapod, reminds you of grocery stores in Cali?
Safeway delivery is better. Most Safeways are like Whole Foods inside a Food Emporium with a Liquor Store.
